![]() The Wolf Covered Bridge was built in the 1840s. The cover was added in 1874 and it had swinging end doors. The structure was 11 feet wide, leaving room for just one lane of traffic. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. |
The bridge was destroyed by fire in 1994. Three teenage boys were arrested for arson. It was decided to rebuild the historic structure. The replica bridge was created by master craftsmen, using new materials and traditional skills.It was completed in 1999. |

During the drive, carpenters, woodworkers, metal workers, fiber weavers, Native Americans, traditional musicians and others will demonstrate hand skills from the 1800s. Some of their products will be available to buy. A variety of food will also be available. Combining the old with the new, solar energy will be used to provide some of the power at the rural site. The scenic six acre site along the Spoon River has easy access and ample parking. |
