On July 23, 2007, Governor Rod Blagojevich
signed the Smoke-Free Illinois Act, which bans smoking indoors in all
public places. This new law, which will become effective on January 1,
2008, prohibits smoking in a public place or in any place of employment
or within 15 feet of any entrance to a public place or place of
employment. Questions can be directed to the Director of Environmental
