
Board of Directors sets short term goals
The KCHS Board of Directors has established the following short-term goals:
Install UV-proof shades in the downstairs windows of the courthouse and the jail.
Paint the exterior of the jail on the north and west sides.
Repair and paint museum windows.
Repair windows and seal exterior of the log cabin.
Complete the period fence around the jail
Research and record the original stagecoach line.
Continue documenting historical homes.

Board of Directors sets long term goals
The KCHS Board of Directors has established the following long-term goals:
Establish an endowment fund.
Move the museum to a climate controlled, handicap accessible building.
Once the museum has been moved, restore the second floor of the Old Knox County Courthouse.
Obtain a privy for the Old Knox County Jail grounds.
Repair the old pumphouse and place it on the National Register.
Encourage the city of Knoxville to focus on the historic downtown district, install period lighting and place replicas of the original town pumps on the square.

The original Newman School Privy is now standing next to the school in James Knox Park and work should be completed this spring.

Approved long and short term goals.
Learned the windows in the downstairs of the courthouse and the jail were to be measured and ordered later this month.
Discussed but took no action on summer hours and possible activities. A volunteer is needed to coordinate the project.
Discussed the possible demolition of the Old Lombard College Gymnasium in Galesburg and the general trend in the county of demolishing historical buildings.

If you have a collection to share, a talent to demonstrate or a few hours to spare greeting visitors to the Sites during the summer, please contact a board member. Volunteers are needed to keep the buildings open in the summer
We will need volunteers to help with the Knox County Scenic Drive in October. Mark your calendar to save two hours for one of the weekends to help us welcome visitors to our buildings and museum.
